Some of you may have received this e-mail from the club (see below) :
As previously stated, we are partaking in several digital away ticket trials this season which have included Tottenham Hotspur away and the Everton home game, whereby the visitors used a digital away ticket. Following on from this, we will be undertaking a further away digital trial at the Manchester City game, on Sunday 19 March. The trial size will amount to 1,500 tickets which will be in the Upper and Lower section which is always allocated to our Away Scheme Members. We plan to notify our Away Scheme Members by email on Monday 13 February.
Away Scheme Members were notified as follows:
Dear (redacted),
Digital Ticketing Trial – Away Scheme Members
In partnership with the Premier League and our colleagues within other Premier League clubs, we are currently undertaking a trial of issuing away tickets in a digital format.
Our forthcoming visit to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 19 March against Manchester City, will form part of this trial and we are writing to let you know that this is taking place.
Manchester City have allocated both the Lower and Middle Tiers, as digital tickets only, rather than physical paper tickets. As an Away Scheme Member, you are always sold a prime location seat which means that your ticket will be included within this trial.
Please be assured that we will be in touch with you again personally nearer the game with further information and instructions on how to use your digital ticket to gain entry into the Etihad Stadium on match day.
If you do have any further questions, we’ll be more than happy to offer any assistance, so please do not hesitate to contact us by phone on 0333 030 1966. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Thank you for your loyal and continued support.
West Ham United Ticket Office.
While many will be comfortable with using this NFC system as we already do for our home matches, some will struggle, either having no phone or the correct tech on the phone and some may just be technophobes and just struggle with this.
Please if you have any concerns, feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to help.
We believe this technology will be fully in place next season and in advance of that we will raise any concerns raised and pass them on to the club.
All the best
